Newly Elected

Bronwyn Tahana-Hopkins

Kia Ora koutou!

Ko Bronwyn Tahana-Hopkins toku ingoa. No Whanganui ahau.

I am excited and passionate about my role to be a voice in the Taranaki/Whanganui/Manawatu region for Alternative Education.

My journey in Alternative Education started in 2012, and I am currently

the Programme Manager (and a class tutor) in our Pakohe Alternative Education Programme here in Whanganui, which is run through YMCA Central.

My passion is driven by the desire to see all our young people succeeding in

their education, and in life in general, ensuring they have the opportunities

and support to do this well. We cannot do this in isolation.

My aim is to connect with other providers and programmes across our rohe/region

and to advocate for the needs of those who we journey alongside in Alt Ed.

‘Ko koe te ki tena, ko ahau ki tenei kiwai o te kete’

You at this handle, and I at this handle of the basket – working together.
